  • COVID-19 extra precautions - What you need to know
In light of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we are taking extra precautions with the intake of each client. There will be some changes in the process both before and during each session, to help ensure both yours and my safety! Before you leave your home, please check your temperature, and consider if you are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms, or have been in contact with anyone with possible or confirmed symptoms within the last 14 days. You will be sent a COVID-19 DECLARATION FORM to complete before each scheduled appointment. I ask that you answer these questions truthfully so we may continue to do our best to stop the spread & keep both you and our therapists safe. You will not be charged for cancelling your appointment with these symptoms. If you answer yes to any of the questions, please postpone or cancel your appointment. The symptoms include (but are not limited to): Loss of sense of smell or taste Body / muscle aches Sore throat Shortness of breath / difficulty breathing A new, continuous cough A fever / high temperature I will also be checking my temperature throughout the day. If you are a first-time client, a CUSTOMER HEALTH CHECK FORM will also be emailed for completion prior to the visit. If you are considered a high-risk client, it may not be possible to massage you at this time. All consultation & consent documents should be emailed beforehand. Please sanitise your hands before and after your treatment. Please minimise personal belongings brought into the treatment room to a bare minimum. Please come to your appointments alone to reduce the number of people in the room at one time. Please arrive no earlier or later than your booking time. There will be an approximate 15-minute gap between clients, to enable disinfection of the practice space, therapy table and equipment, hallways and bathrooms etc, with enough time to dry and take effect.
  • Your first appointment
When you arrive at my house, please park on the drive as the road is permit. Please come straight through the side gate into the garden to the sliding doors to the studio. You will have been sent a consultation form via email before the session, which must be completed. We will go through the form as well as discussing why you are having the treatment and any present or previous injuries, health issues, medication and occupation and lifestyle. These could be contributing factors to the problem so it’s important to talk about. A physical assessment will be done using methods such as; postural assessment, range of movement assessment and/or visual/manual assessment. These will help me give the most suitable treatment for you.
  • What should I wear?
When you come to the clinic for treatment it is recommended that you wear loose comfortable clothing which can be moved or repositioned, such as loose fitted shorts and a vest. This is to allow access to the area of the body which is being assessed and treated. I use towels and cushions during treatment to help keep you feeling comfortable.
  • Will my massage be painful?
Some people ask will my treatment be painful? Sports and remedial massage will involve going deep into the muscles to relieve tension, so some points maybe uncomfortable, but it will never be brutal!! If you find some areas are too uncomfortable, please give feedback, I can release the pressure or use a different technique. It is important we work together to find the best treatment for you.
  • Aftercare, what do I need to know?"
After your massage, it is normal to feel soreness for 24-48 hours afterwards. I normally advise to not do any vigorous exercise for 24 hours after treatment. Painful areas can be eased by putting an ice pack on (do not put directly on the skin) for 10-15 minutes and ensure you drink loads of water to help flush out toxins. Finally,….. Listen to your body! The road to recovery from injuries, pains, and every day stresses takes time! Your body needs rest to recover!! It is important to me that you don’t just feel better for a short period of time, but learn to understand your body and work together to keep it feeling better in the long term.
